Pollen
Ball Large
18"x12"
I am fascinated by the highly complex and organized
patterns that can be seen in the most minute aspects of nature. After
some research on pollen grains, I decided to make a sculpture that reflected
this organization, but large enough so it could be seen without a microscope.
I have created two versions of this piece, the large one pictured here,
and a smaller version which is approximately 9" wide. In my garden,
I placed a large pollen ball in a bed, and clustered a nest of smaller
ones around it, making it appear that they are propagating.

Root
Spire
14" x Varies
This piece is based on the roots of bald cypress
trees, which burst up through the soil surface to allow the trees to
breath in water. This piece looks great tucked into beds around the
garden, and looks particularly good in groups of 3 or more. And at this
price, why not! There is also in development a 4' tall version of this
piece that would make a great water feature. If you are also interested
in the larger version, email me for details.

Spring
Growth
18"x12"
This piece was based on the small details seen
in the buds of a rhodendron tree on a camping trip in the North Carolina
mountains. It has been carved to create the impression of a number of
small individual plants growing together in an organizing fashion to
create a larger, more complex arrangement. This piece can also be made
into a fascinating water feature, with water falling in innumerable
ways from cup to cup and in between the ridges.
